Friday Five for April 5th, 2024

1. SAVE THE DATE: BruinTech 2024 Spring Conference

When: Tuesday, May 21 - Wednesday, May 22 (virtual),  Thursday, May 23 (in-person)

We’re also calling for presentation proposals surrounding the theme of Digital Transformation. Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Change
  • Process Improvement
  • AI
  • Connecting with Non-IT Users

Submit proposals no later than April 21, 2024 to be considered. Please email bruintech@g.ucla.edu for any questions.

2. The Embracing AI Summit

Anderson School of Management’s Technology Business Association and Entrepreneur Association present the 2024 Embracing AI Summit, which showcases the intersection of business and technology. Leaders from both sectors will join UCLA Anderson to explore the impact of AI, as well as the potential for change it can bring into industry. The summit will include panel discussions with investors, innovators, and industry practitioners.

When: Friday, April 12, 2024 at 1PM - 4PM. Reception to follow from 4PM - 7PM

Where: UCLA Anderson School of Management, Crown Auditorium

3. UCLA Technology Workshops

Check out workshops.ucla.edu to find a collection of research-based, digital technology instruction. Listings come from tech-adjacent departments and institutes, such as the Office of Advanced Research Computing (OARC), Young Research Library (YRL), Institute for Digital Research and Education (IDRE), and more! You can also submit your department’s workshops to their events calendar by contacting comms@oarc.ucla.edu.

4. 2024 UC Tech Awards and Conference Proposals

Applications for both the 2024 UC Tech Awards and UC Tech presentation proposals are due Wednesday, May 1. Keep in mind these are separate programs that just have the same deadline for submissions!

For info on the awards, there will be two more info sessions on April 12 and April 17 detailing how to enter a submission.

On the other hand, the UC Tech 2024 Annual Conference will be held at UC Davis and will feature the program themes of:

  • Artificial Intelligence & the Future of IT
  • Communications and User Experience (UX)
  • Community, Collaboration & Culture
  • Health Sciences
  • Infrastructure, Research Computing & Data Science
  • Security, Compliance & Privacy
  • Teaching, Learning & Student Success
