The UCLA Office of Emergency Management (OEM) brought the American College of Surgeons STOP THE BLEED (STB) training to UCLA campus. The program taught over 500 student staff how to administer first aid by responding to life-threatening bleed emergencies; participants learned how to control severe bleeding and use a tourniquet. After the first session was made a success by a large crossover among OEM, UCLA Health, Residential Life, Housing & Hospitality, and the schools of medicine and public health, there is a possibility that this will become a reoccurring program.
