1. XR Initiative Spring Summit - Happening NOW!

As in, literally right now! Use this Zoom registration link to virtually join UCLA’s XR Initiative Spring Summit. This conference will focus on extended reality (XR) technologies, exploring content regulation, AI integration, and practical applications in diverse fields. The keynote speaker will showcase how emerging technology is being used to cultivate community and interdisciplinarity in ethical and accessible ways.

2. SAVE THE DATE: BruinTech 2024 Spring Conference

When: Tuesday, May 21 & Wednesday, May 22 (virtual).  Thursday, May 23 (in-person)

We’re also calling for presentation proposals surrounding the theme of Digital Transformation.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • Change
  • Process Improvement
  • AI
  • Connecting with Non-IT Users

3. Ascend 2.0 Town Hall

Join the quarterly Ascend 2.0 Town Hall to learn about BruinBuy Plus updates and the implementation of Bruin Finance. Program leadership will be available to share about upcoming changes, their impact, and how departments can prepare. Make sure you also prepare your Ascend 2.0-related questions for the live Q&A!

4. UCLA Newsroom: How AI discriminates and what that means for your Google habit

Read up on this Newsroom article about UCLA internet studies scholar Safiya Noble. Noble is an associate professor in the department of information studies, as well as holding appointments in gender studies and African American studies. She has been recognized for her examination of algorithmic discrimination in internet search engines, and has more to say about the way technology is outpacing both corporate and government regulations. How are our search engines affected by the systemic biases entrenched in our society?
